R&R Software extends its portfolio with meter-reading mobile applications

R&R Software’s development and product strategy has been focusing on enterprise mobility solutions since more than ten years – thanks to these efforts, all system supplied by R&R Software are modern, web based system with web browser interfaces: including the FusionR Utility enterprise resource planning and business support system.

R&R Software’s newest development is the first member of the FusionR Utility Mobile product line: the FusionR Utility Mobile Android application. With its help, FusionR Utility’s functions can be extended to field workers, to support, monitor and control their work centrally.

The system utilizes Android smartphones and tablets to help meter reading colleagues. “Reading packages” are created and downloaded to the field workers devices, which contain the address and meter information designated for reading.

The application then guides field workers through the open reading tasks and addresses, where they record utility meter values, and optionally add comments, or photo documentation created with the integrated camera. Executed “reading packages” are then uploaded to the central system, where FusionR Utility automatically processes the information, and turns text comments and photo documentation into enquiries. The system is able to record GPS coordinates and timestamps with each reading to monitor field workers – but this information may also be used to optimize route plans.
